The California Global Warming Solutions Act of 2006

Awaiting only the promised signature of the increasingly eco-conscious Governator (does he still have all of those Hummers?), California is passing a landmark bill that is "a statewide greenhouse gas emissions limit equivalent to the statewide greenhouse gas emissions levels in 1990 to be achieved by 2020, as specified." I'm not exactly sure what it means, but it sounds good! I like the quote the Washington Post article:
"I really believe the effort to curb global warming is a bottom-up effort in this country," said Assembly Speaker Fabian Nunez (D), who co-authored the bill. "For us, this is not just about California. This is about making a push from the bottom up to get the Congress to take action."
Will this be the start of a global "call to arms" to save our planet and our race from our self-made fate? Will our attitudes continue to change and advances be made so that we stop the wheels that humans have set in motion? Can we divert our global warming apocalypse?
I certainly hope so.
Go California! Lets go Kyoto on those bastards!
